Mary started in 1982 at the University of Kansas in the Office of Recreation Services. She has an undergraduate degree in Health & Physical Education from Phillips University in Enid, Oklahoma and received her Master's Degree in Recreation Administration from Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas. Before coming to the University of Kansas, she was a member of the Athletic Department staff at the University of Missouri-St.Louis, where she coached, taught, and was the Campus Recreation Director. As a collector of quotes and famous sayings, she especially likes this one: We the willing, led by the unknowing are doing the impossible for the ungrateful. We have done so much, with so little, for so long, that we are now qualified to do anything with nothing.
Rick has been with the University of Kansas in the Offices of Recreation Services since 1993. After receiving his Masters of Science in Education from the University of Kansas, he started his career in Campus Recreation at Sam Houston State University in the Department of Recreational Sports. He received his undergraduate degree in History and Political Science from Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas, where he played and coached football. Rick enjoys spending time with his family and friends, being active in the Lawrence community, and officiating high school and collegiate football.
Jason was raised in Atchison, Kansas and graduated from Atchison High School in 1990. Jason received his Bachelor of Science degree in Recreation from Northwest Missouri State University. He worked for the Campus Recreation Department at NWMSU as a facility and intramural supervisor. Jason also played 4 years of varsity football at NWMSU. He received his Master's degree in Health, Physical Education, & Leisure from Oklahoma State University in 1996 while he worked as a graduate assistant in the Intramural Sports program at OSU. Jason has been a member of NIRSA since 1992. Jason worked as Intramural Director at KU for 5 years, before taking over his current responsibilities as Sport Club Director.
Jill joined Recreation Services in July of 2001. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in athletic training and her Masters of Education degree in Athletic Administration with an emphasis in health/fitness administration from the University of Nebraska- Lincoln . Jill worked for fitness and wellness services while at UNL. She also taught as an assistant for the Health and Human Performance Department at UNL plus a Healthy Lifestyles class for Southeast Community College- Lincoln also.
Roger joined KU Recreation Services in July 2004 as the Assistant Director-Facilities. He has experience as a Student Employee with Recreation Services at Iowa State University, Graduate Assistant (Facilities) with Recreational Services at the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss), Intern with the National Intramural-Recreational Sports Association (NIRSA) in Covallis, Oregon and as Facility Coordinator at Middle Tennessee State University. Roger received a B.B.A. in Finance from Iowa State University and a M.A in Leisure Management from Ole Miss. A member of NIRSA since 1993, he served as NIRSA State Director of Tennessee from 2002-2004. Roger enjoys collecting sportscards and sports memorabilia, hard rock music, casino gambling, keeping in touch with friends and staying active as a participant of the SRFC at KU.
Matt was raised in Benkelman, Nebraska where he graduated Valedictorian of Dundy County High School in 2001. Matt received his Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science in 2006 from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln where he was also an intramural sports official and staff assistant for four years. He received his Master of Science degree in Leisure Studies from Oklahoma State University in 2008, where he served for two years as a Graduate Assistant for intramural sports. Matt has been a member of NIRSA since 2005. In his spare time, he enjoys music, watching movies, spending time with friends and family, reading and sports officiating.
Mike is joining the University of Kansas Recreation staff as the new outdoor pursuits Assistant Director. He received his Bachelors of Science degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in Recreation. During his undergraduate program he participated in an array of outdoor programs. He also attended a National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS) course in Alaskan Mountaineering. He worked as the Outdoor Adventure Graduate assistant at the University of West Florida where he received his Masters in Exercise Science with an emphasis in Leisure Services. In his spare time he enjoys reading, traveling, and outdoor activities.
Amber Long, Coordinator of Fitness, joined KU Recreation Services in October 2006. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Community Health Education and a Master's degree in Higher Education from Iowa State University in 2005. Amber is a certified personal trainer through the American Council on Exercise (ACE). She is also an Aerobics Fitness Association of America (AFAA) group fitness instructor. She has worked in the fitness industry for 6 years, educating and motivating a wide variety of clients, participants and students. In Amber's free time, she enjoys outdoor adventures and kitchen experiments!
Mike Sinclair, Skilled Trades Worker - General Maintenance, joined KU Recreation Services in 2003. He grew up on a farm in Atchison county, where he worked as a truck driver and warehouse worker for five years. Mike started working for the University of Kansas in 1983 and has worked for Facilities Operations and Health and the Sports & Exercise Sciences. In Mike's free time, he enjoys rodeos, Highland/Scottish games, hunting and fishing, and being with his family and friends.
Judy grew up in Topeka graduating from Washburn Rural High School. She worked in retail sales/accounting for ten years before joining Recreation Services in March, 2001. She enjoys genealogy and gardening in her spare time.
