KU Fit Group Fitness

Interested in becoming a group fitness instructor? KU Fit Instructor Training is a program to prepare students with the basic information and skills to work in group fitness in college and beyond.

The program is a non-academic class that involves both practical application and theory of group exercise. Participants will be attaining hands-on application of principles learned. Successful participants are eligible to attain employment as a group exercise instructor. This is not a certification, but is practical preparation for a national certification.

KU Fit Instructor Training are programs available ONLY to current KU Students. HSES majors preferred, but not required. Instructors needed in all formats: Cardio, Strength, Yoga and Pilates.

KU Fit Instructor Training Spring 2009

Participants learn:

  • The principles of group exercise
  • How to cue
  • How to teach different class formats
  • How to prepare for a job as a group exercise instructor
  • Preparation to attain group exercise certifications
  • Personal feedback on individual strengths and weaknesses
  • Registration Deadline: Monday, January 26
  • Fee: non-refundable $75 (includes KU Fit Semester Pass)
    • Payment to be made in the Administrative Office (Rm 103) at the Ambler Student Recreation Fitness Center
  • Time: Wednesdays 7-9pm; Fridays 3-5pm
